The Skinny Magazine Cover - August 2011
Scotland’s Fringe Festival is happening once again this month and as well as having ‘The Kidnappers Guide’ posters on the streets of Edinburgh, I’ve also just finished this cover for Scotland’s finest culture magazine known as The Skinny.
The art director Pete Marsden wanted to go for a geometric feel to this illustration. I began brainstorming different ways of incorporating the magazines features onto the cover but the microphone seemed to best represent the performance and theatrics of the Fringe Festival.
Inside the Microphone we have: comedians interviewing other comedians, an electro rave, books representing the book festival, exhibitions and live theater performances. Particularly nice to get back the design with added typographic elements and always great to see it in print!
