The Old Man and the Sea

Throughout January and February I worked on a private commission based upon the book ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ written by Ernest Hemmingway. It was really nice to work on an original piece for a change, exploring different mediums and generally experimenting with my way of working.

I used a tea stain wash, Indian Ink, gouache, pencil, white pastel, pencil crayons and silver Ink for the giant marlin which reflects and shines when the light hits it.
